While on a much-needed family vacation in Florida, David Gray answered a phone call that would forever alter his path. Admittedly, it was an emotional occasion for the entire clan assembled around the phone, anticipating a response from the man set to take over as Hibs manager.
The Scottish Cup-winning captain, four-time interim head coach, and all-around Easter Road icon held his first formal news conference today at East Mains. He shared details of a process that saw him “nail” a two-and-a-half interview, according to sporting director Malky Mackay. and then check his phone for far too long, waiting for that magical number to appear.
“I received a call while I was in Florida,” stated Gray, who had embarked on an incredible journey with his spouse Hayley, children Ada, Ivy, and Archie, parents Elaine and Peter, and mother-in-law Mary. “My sweetie was both extremely happy and unhappy during the past month!” Since it was essentially our last chance to visit the Magic Kingdom and other attractions, we had already made plans to take the kids.
