After Leeds United’s loss to Middlesbrough tonight, Jermaine Beckford offers his immediate assessment.

Daniel Farke’s team fell 3-0 at Elland Road on Wednesday night against Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough, humiliating Leeds United. Jermaine Beckford offered his assessment following the match.

Farke made eight changes to his starting lineup following a 3-3 tie with Portsmouth, starting players like Karl Darlow, Max Wober, Joe Rothwell, Brenden Aaronson, and Patrick Bamford, but the outcome was not good.

Despite a rather unsuccessful first forty-five minutes, Anfernee Dijksteel, Delano Burgzorg, and Josh Coburn scored goals in the second half. With Leeds looking miserable, Luke Ayling’s team easily won the Carabao Cup.

Leeds has now given up six goals in their first two games, both of which were played at Elland Road. With a trip to Carlos Corberan’s West Brom scheduled for this Saturday, Leeds is already under increased pressure.

Jermaine Beckford brands Leeds “ridiculous” after 3-0 demolition

Speaking after the defeat to Michael Carrick’s men, Leeds icon Beckford told Sky Sports that he could not understand why there were so many chances conceded in the second 45, unlike a side managed by Farke.

“It was disappointing that Leeds could not do what Middlesbrough did and couldn’t do any damage. Leeds made five changes prior to the third goal but there is no excuse, no marking runners,” he said.

“Frustrated. Based on what Daniel Farke does with his sides, he keeps them well-organised and doesn’t allow too many chances. 17 chances. Ridiculous, based on his previous work, worried? No,” he added.

Leeds fringe players flop as Farke immediately under spotlight

Wober, Aaronson, Bamford, Joe Gelhardt and even Joel Piroe would have been looking forward to the game with the knowledge that the clash was an opportunity to show or remain Farke what they can do.

But no-one caught the eye. Not one player can drive away from Elland Road tonight and think they did a good job. What is worrying, is that Leeds’ best players from last season look all over the place currently.

The likes of Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev have made a poor start to the season on the pitch and things have got to quickly change or Leeds will be making another poor start to the season.
