Jordan James’ transfer from Birmingham City is set to happen before the new season begins, with a scheduled medical exam.
Jordan James, an academy graduate, is apparently set to leave Birmingham City. Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the midfield player is anticipated to finalize his transfer to French Ligue 1 team Rennes.
James has drawn attention this season since he kept up his impressive play at St Andrew’s despite being demoted to League One. Now, a contract for Chris Davies’ exit is rumored to have been agreed upon, days before his team kicks off their 2024–25 EFL season.
According to Romano, Rennes had an offer accepted early on Thursday. The 20-year-old is reportedly scheduled to fly to France for his medical examination in the coming days; although personal terms are still pending, they shouldn’t provide a problem.
James made 42 appearances and scored eight goals in the Championship the previous year. Clubs all around Europe took notice of his skills, and in January, Atalanta, an Italian team, made an offer.
Earlier in the summer, Nottingham Forest was also credited with tracking the Welsh international who was born in Hereford. But knowing James would be a highly sought-after player, Blues had been prepared for the battle.
Although the deal’s exact cost is unknown, it is believed that Blues will seek a high price for James, who has made over 100 senior games and 11 caps for the team. Marc Leonard, a center midfielder for the Blues, was acquired from Brighton two weeks ago.
