REPORT: Birmingham City makes a move to land sought a new winger..

As Championship clubs approach Birmingham City, they are trying to sign one of their key players to a new contract.

The Blues’ League One campaign began with a 1-1 draw against Reading, and they had to rely on a last-minute penalty from new summer addition Alfie May to split the points.

In order to make sure their stint in the third division is brief, the relegated team has turned to the transfer market. Many were taken aback by the arrivals of May, Willum Willumson, Emil Hansson, and Marc Leonard, as they continue to outspend the bulk of the teams in the league above.

However, a number of Championship clubs are interested in signing Siriki Dembele, one of their standout players. Chris Davies, the manager, appears committed to holding onto the 27-year-old despite this.

Alan Nixon claims that in an effort to secure their gifted forward, the previous Championship team is prepared to extend their contract and grant a salary boost.

It is also said that they are almost done signing his brother Karamoko.

Bringing in elite talent and persuading players who already had contracts with the club that staying is in their best interests was one of Birmingham City’s main post-relegation challenges. Although several Blues players have been linked to other teams, they have managed to prevent any truly disastrous exits as they prepare to return to the second division.

The star-studded team may need some time to reach their peak, as yesterday’s draw may have shown, and there are still doubts about the new manager’s ability to keep them all content while leading them through what should be a thrilling and competitive League One season.

Dembele’s decision to stay with the team may be interpreted as a declaration of purpose and a vote of confidence from the player that his team can get promoted right away.
