BREAKING NEWS: Despite Cup shock, a former Hibs favorite believes that coach Gray’s strategy has potential.

Allan commends his former colleague for allowing players the “freedom” to attack.
David Gray has David Allan’s support to turn around the fortunes of his former team, Hibs. Even though he was the star of Kelty’s unexpected 1-0 victory over Gray’s team on Saturday, the midfielder believes the new coach is already making an impact.

Allan, a player whose cunning and skill made him a cult favorite during three separate stints at Hibs, thinks his old teammate Gray has given athleticism to a group that played a lot of excellent football last year, but not always with the desired outcomes. He maintains that being a member of the Kelty team that gave the Hibees a Premier Sports Cup kicking did not undermine his faith in the boss.

“We managed to defend, but there was a way of playing there,” Allan remarked. “I’ve got a really good relationship with Dave, and if I put my Hibs hat on for a few minutes, you can really see what they’re trying to do compared to last year.” Their high line, which they had about halfway through, made it really difficult for us to play out and allowed them to regain possession of the ball fast.
