Celtics are prepared to make an offer for the captain of Dens Park.
According to reports, Dundee is prepared for a bid from Celtic for Luke McCowan, the captain.
The outstanding midfielder for the Dees, who scored ten goals in the previous season to enable Tony Docherty’s team finish in the top six, has previously turned down offers from Hibs and Wigan. And by scoring in Dundee’s opening two Premiership games this season, the former Ayr United star has maintained his incredible run.
The 26-year-old McCowan’s contract at Dens Park is about to expire, but manager Docherty is holding out hope that his goal-scoring playmaker will sign longer contracts. However, according to the Scottish Sun, Celtic is prepared to make a bid this month.
One of Easter Road manager David Gray’s main summer targets, McCowan, has already seen a bid of £750,000 from Hibs rejected. Dundee reportedly value their star player at £1 million. In order to strengthen his team before the transfer window ends on August 30, Tottenham manager Brendan Rodgers is still looking for a left back, a center back, and a third striker.
Last night, the Scottish champions broke their own transfer record when they finally signed Adam Idah from Norwich City for £9.5 million on a five-year contract. If Matt O’Riley leaves this transfer window, Augsburg’s £10 million Belgian prodigy Arne Engels, 20, might be their second record-breaking signing.
