BREAKING NEWS: Eagles sign DE Tarron Jackson to the practice…read more

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed defensive end Tarron Jackson to their practice squad. Jackson, a former sixth-round pick of the Eagles in the 2021 NFL Draft, had spent time on the active roster and practice squad previously. Adding him to the practice squad gives the team additional depth at the defensive line position, and he could be called up to the active roster in case of injuries or other roster moves.

Jackson played college football at Coastal Carolina, where he was a standout pass rusher. While he has yet to make a significant impact on the Eagles’ active roster, he has shown potential in practices and preseason games. His familiarity with the Eagles’ system could be valuable as the team looks to maintain a deep rotation along the defensive line.

This move also reflects the team’s commitment to developing young talent and keeping depth options available for the long season ahead.

The Eagles brought back a familiar face to the practice squad when they signed defensive end Tarron Jackson on Thursday.

To make room for him, the team released quarterback Will Grier from the practice squad.

Jackson (6-2, 254) originally was drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Coastal Carolina. He played in every game as a rookie, contributing with 17 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in 253 snaps on defense.

He split time between the active roster and the practice squad of the NFC Champions in 2022, playing in five total games, including playoffs. Jackson was on the practice squad for the entirety of the 2023 campaign. He battled for a roster spot in this year’s Training Camp and preseason, but was released during the final roster cutdown.

Jackson was promptly signed to Carolina’s practice squad and eventually promoted to the active roster before being waived on October 15. He played in three games for the Panthers, logging 28 snaps on defense.

The Eagles signed Grier in free agency this offseason. Grier previously played for Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore both in Dallas and in Los Angeles with the Chargers. The former third-round pick of the Panthers started two games for Carolina in his rookie season of 2019.
