Iowa State basketball has made St. Louis forward Sheek Pearson a priority in the 2026 recruiting class and the Cyclones are moving to bring Pearson back on campus for an unofficial visit at the end of August.
Iowa State basketball’s early identification and pursuits of St. Louis John Burroughs forward Sheek Pearson appear to be paying off in the recruitment of the 6-foot-9, 180-pound forward.
During the 2023-24 college basketball season, Pearson visited Iowa State’s campus to see T.J. Otzelberger and the Cyclones play at Hilton Coliseum. Now, after an impressive showing at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in early July, the Cyclones have company in Pearson’s recruitment.
Following a strong performance at Peach Jam, Pearson reported new scholarship offers from Illinois and Marquette, two programs that also qualified for the Sweet 16 in the most recent NCAA Tournament. Missouri and Saint Louis have also offered Pearson a scholarship.
“It continues to boost my confidence,” Pearson said of getting new scholarship offers. “It makes me feel good knowing that another high major program can see me contributing to their team.”
At Peach Jam, Pearson impressed coaching staffs with his ability as a rangy rim-running forward with high-level shot-blocking potential because of his impressive wingspan. In a semifinal win over Pro Skillz Elite, Pearson posted six points and six blocks.
In the 16U finals vs. Team CP3, Pearson had 14 points and five blocks with four rebounds in the 74-67 victory.
“Very surreal,” Pearson said of winning Peach Jam. “Obviously, one of our three losses this season was to CP3, and the way everything worked out, it’s like we were supposed to win in our eyes.
