Rivals of Birmingham City, Leyton Orient, and Charlton Athletic will get a windfall of £4 million from the massive transfer.
The Addicks and Royals were separated in League One by just one goal last season.
After completing a sensational transfer to Bayern Munich, Crystal Palace star Michael Olise will leave for Charlton Athletic and Reading, the rival team of Leyton Orient, will receive a big financial boost.
In just 19 Premier League games, the 22-year-old scored 10 goals and provided six assists for the Eagles last season despite missing a significant portion of the campaign due to a hamstring injury. Olise has already signed a contract with German powerhouse Bayern Munich, despite being linked to a summer transfer to either Manchester United or Liverpool.
The forward will play with Harry Kane, a former player for Tottenham Hotspur, at Bayern, where the team is also nearing completion of a deal to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha. As Olise makes his £50 million move, it will also have an impact on League One.
The Berkshire club’s first team saw the winger make his debut after he emerged from the Reading academy. After winning the EFL Young Player of the Year award, Olise only departed the Royals in 2021 to sign an £8 million contract to join Crystal Palace.
The Reading Chronicle claims that because of a sell-on option in that agreement, Reading will get a fee greater than £4 million for Olise’s transfer this summer. That infusion of cash is a tremendous relief for a team that is still beset by financial difficulties.
