The legendary player from Easter Road is getting ready to compete for the Scottish Championship with the Kirkcaldy team.
Legendary Hibs player Paul Hanlon says he is excited for a “new challenge” at Raith Rovers following the end of his 17-year career with the Edinburgh team.
The 34-year-old has signed up with the Scottish Championship runners-up, who are coached by former Hibee Ian Murray, along with fellow Leith hero Lewis Stevenson. Hanlon will undoubtedly be vying to raise the Championship trophy for Hibs, since he was a member of the squad who won it all in 2017.
He stated, “I was at Hibs for a long time, and this is a new challenge that I’m really looking forward to,” when asked about his decision to join Rovers. Having a couple guys in the changing room that I already knew from playing with is certainly helpful.
There are plenty of boys in there that I know, and Scottish football is like a goldfish bowl in that you meet a lot of boys along the road. I had a few chats with Pottsy and the manager.
Pottsy was incessantly on the phone from the beginning, but I had to take my time, sit back, and consider my alternatives because I had a lengthy career at Hibs.
It just came to a point when I was ready to make a decision, and Raith Rovers were the team I decided on. I’d had a good relationship with him at Hibs as well, back when he was Jack Ross’s assistant.
“From the outside, I thought the club would be a fantastic place to be part with. I assumed it would be fun to come in here every day and work hard because they seemed to have a good, close-knit team, and that’s exactly how it’s worked out.
