Forwards Matej Blumel and Arttu Hyry as well as defenseman Liam Bichsel were assigned to Texas.
Drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Blumel spent the entire 2023-24 season with Texas, scoring 31 goals and adding 31 assists for 62 points in 72 regular season games. He also added a further nine points in seven playoff games.
Hyry, a product of Oulu, Finland, is joining Texas for his first professional season in North America. In 55 regular season games with Karpat (Liiga) last season, he collected 14 goals and 17 assists for 31 points.
Rounding out the list is the towering Bichsel. A 2022 first round pick of the Stars, Bichsel split time last season between Texas and Rogle BK in Sweden. With Texas, he put up seven points in 16 games while scoring two goals and adding two assists for four points in 29 games with Rogle.
With all three players now joining Texas, the Stars just got a lot more dangerous. Blumel proved he can be a difference maker with the puck on his stick and should see time in the NHL this season. Hyry has a good track record of producing overseas and Bichsel has the tools to be a very solid player.
Texas opens their season at home versus the Henderson Silver Knights on Friday, Oct. 11.
