The Texas Rangers may have returned from a tough road series against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a respectable win, but as they head into a crucial AL West clash, a few underlying issues are beginning to surface.

With a winning record and a share of first place alongside the Athletics, Texas has shown promise—but not without concern. Here are the three biggest early-season problems that could define their campaign if left unaddressed.

1. Bullpen Struggles in Closing Situations
What was expected to be a reliable co-closer setup has instead become a major question mark. Robert Garcia and Chris Martin have both struggled to deliver in high-pressure moments, failing to secure saves and faltering in tight games. Their inconsistency has forced other relievers to step up, raising doubts about how long the team can rely on its original late-inning plan.

2. Stark Home vs. Road Offensive Split
The Rangers’ offense has been noticeably stronger away from home. While they’ve produced solid numbers on the road, their struggles at Globe Life Field continue to be a concern. With the majority of their home runs coming outside their home park, the imbalance in offensive production could become a serious issue in the long run.

3. Joc Pederson’s Slow Start at the Plate
Veteran slugger Joc Pederson has yet to find his rhythm this season. After a rough start and limited production, frustration has grown both for the player and the fanbase. Although there are slight signs of improvement, he’ll need to significantly elevate his performance to justify his role in the lineup and regain confidence.

As the Rangers prepare for a defining series, these concerns loom large. While the results so far have been solid, addressing these weaknesses will be key if Texas hopes to stay on top in a competitive AL West race.
